Diese R\u00e4uber sind h\u00e4ufig an der HTMS Sattakut oder White Rock zu finden, wo sie ihren ausgepr\u00e4gten Geruchssinn zum Jagen nachtaktiver Beute einsetzen.<\/p>\n

Trotz ihres aggressiven Erscheinungsbildes beim Aufrei\u00dfen des Mauls (was tats\u00e4chlich nur ihre Atemtechnik ist) sind sie gegen\u00fcber Tauchenden im Allgemeinen scheu, sofern sie nicht provoziert werden oder ein Nest verteidigen.<\/p>\n

Wo man die Gelbrand-Mur\u00e4ne auf Koh Tao findet<\/h3>\n

Gelbrand–Mur\u00e4nen sieht man vorwiegend an Koh Tao<\/a> Tauchpl\u00e4tzen<\/a> mit vielen Korallen oder Felsen, die Verstecke bieten.<\/p>\n

Vorkommen: Twin Peaks<\/a>, White Rock<\/a>, Mango Bay<\/a>, Japanese Gardens<\/a> sowie tiefere Pl\u00e4tze wie Southwest Pinnacle<\/a> und Sail Rock<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Wie man die Gelbrand-Mur\u00e4ne erkennt<\/span><\/h3>\n

Die Gelbrand-Mur\u00e4ne wird h\u00e4ufig mit der Wei\u00dfaugen-Mur\u00e4ne<\/a> verwechselt, unterscheidet sich jedoch deutlich: Sie hat eine k\u00fcrzere Schnauze und einen kompakten Kopf.<\/p>\n

Auff\u00e4llig sind bernsteinfarbene Augen; der Kopf ist meist violett–braun, das \u00fcbrige, schlanke K\u00f6rperband geht in ein geflecktes Gelb–Gr\u00fcn mit braunen Punkten \u00fcber.<\/p>\n

Ausgezeichneter Geruchssinn<\/h3>\n

Die Gelbrand-Mur\u00e4ne kann bis etwa 120 cm lang werden und tr\u00e4gt nahe den Kiemen einen charakteristischen schwarzen Fleck seitlich am Kopf.<\/p>\n

Wie die meisten Mur\u00e4nen hat auch die Gelbrand-Mur\u00e4ne<\/span> ein schwaches Sehverm\u00f6gen, und ihr Maul liegt sehr nah an den Augen.<\/p>\n

Ihr Sehverm\u00f6gen ist schwach, daher kompensiert sie das durch zwei ausgepr\u00e4gte Nasen\u00f6ffnungen, mit denen sie Verletzungen oder verendete Fische gut erschn\u00fcffelt \u2014 ideal als Riff-Reiniger.<\/p>\n

Merkmale & Verhalten der Gelbrand-Mur\u00e4ne<\/span><\/h3>\n

Gelbrand-Mur\u00e4nen sind strikt Carnivor: Sie fressen Fische, Tintenfische<\/a> und Krebstiere.<\/p>\n

W\u00e4hrend viele Mur\u00e4nen nachtaktiv jagen, kann die Gelbrand-Mur\u00e4ne auch tags\u00fcber aktiv sein und mit ihrem guten Geruchssinn nach Beute suchen, die Schutz am Riff sucht.<\/p>\n

Weibchen legen Zehntausende Eier, betreuen diese aber nicht; die Eier treiben mit Str\u00f6mungen und werden oft Beute anderer Meeresbewohner.<\/p>\n

Gelbrand-Mur\u00e4nen haben wenige nat\u00fcrliche Fressfeinde; ihre schleimige Hautbeschichtung macht sie f\u00fcr Fischerei unattraktiv.<\/p>\n
