You will learn how to effectively and accurately evaluate teaching presentations.

You will learn how to critique candidates effectively. Provide positive feedback and help applicants overcome learning difficulties in the following areas.

• Score at least 4.0 in presenting knowledge development teaching.
• Score at least 4.0 in teaching presentations in shallow water.

Before starting IDC, applicants must complete the IDC Staff instructor candidates’ preparation course, which begins with an orientation and pre-exam assessment.

We’ll give you the IDC Staff Instructor Crew Pack if you haven’t already accessed the online section. We will help you load eLearning materials for teaching and Instructor development.

We will guide you through digital documents including trusts, liabilities and PADI medical statements if you have not yet completed your registration.

IDC Staff Instructor Candidate Preparation Course

The IDC Staff Instructor Candidate Preparation course is scheduled a day or two before your IDC class. You will begin studying IDC Staff Instructor theory and the GS&P exam.

You must score 80% on each exam to pass. We will review and correct any questions you do not understand.

Improvement is essential to being a successful PADI IDC Staff Instructor. And the exam is good preparation before you have to take the IDC training course.

General standards and theory of diving

PADI IDC applicants will have many questions about diving theory or standards during their IDC training and you will be able to help them.

During the IDC Staff Preparation course, you will participate in classroom presentations led by a Course Director and complete assessment training.

We will be working on IDC Staff Instructor skills to ensure that Diving skills Yours is a good example for IDC going forward.

You must attend final counseling on Day 12. You are not required to attend the EFR Instructor Course.

If you meet all assessment performance requirements You don’t need to join Mock IE.

If you have the time, we encourage you to do it as it is a great learning experience and allows you to practice assessments more often.

Water Skills Development Workshop – IDC Staff Instructor Course

Diving skills ( 24 skills )

These are the same skills you teach in Open Water courses in shallow water.

You will get used to scoring by doing. Divemaster course skills too

This might be something you learned recently or last learned several years ago and want to refresh and hone the skills and qualities of your demonstration.

Diving skills training

We tailor additional skills training to the needs of each IDC Staff instructor candidate to ensure you can demonstrate Shows 24 basic skills and scores 96 points.

We always work with our IDC Staff Instructor candidates to make them confident divers. Extremely knowledgeable and skilled and a role model underwater.

Your practical skill level is very important and why we encourage you to adopt our approach when it comes to training methods and neutral buoyancy.

Developing neutral buoyancy skills

We understand that floating is something you may not have seen before in your training or practiced in your teaching activities.

We provide training in all staged skills in diving positions and we incorporate neutral buoyancy skills into all of our pro training programs.

IDC Workshop in Water

You may remember from your IDC that there are several aquatic workshops that we run during the course.

As an IDC Staff Instructor candidate, you will also work with candidates during these trainings.

Evaluation of knowledge development presentations

Before the applicant presents the first knowledge development You will need to complete your assessment training first. which is part of the IDC Staff Instructor course Preparation course

You will attend a knowledge development workshop and help IDC applicants prepare for their first knowledge development presentation.

During the IDC Candidate Knowledge Development Presentation, you will sit next to the Course Director as you evaluate each candidate’s Knowledge Development Presentation.

You will use techniques learned during assessment training. to view the lecture or what happened during the presentation

When the presentation is finished You and the course director will discuss the applicant’s scores and review each area. You will be asked to explain why you rated the presentation the way you did.

Presentation of knowledge development

We will discuss counseling issues and techniques to use when critiquing each presentation.

As you evaluate the presentation, more knowledge develops. You will feel more confident and your scores will be closer to the course director’s scores.

When you’re ready Feel confident and your score matches our score. You will critique the candidate’s training. Give good feedback and suggestions for improvement

You will have the opportunity to evaluate several candidates’ knowledge development presentations during IDC training.

Evaluation of teaching presentations in shallow water bodies

You will attend shallow water teaching workshops and help IDC candidates prepare shallow water teaching presentations.

During teaching presentations in shallow water You will be in the water Evaluate each applicant’s presentation using a shallow-water and marine evaluation slate.

Use techniques learned during assessment training. You will record what the candidate said and what happened during the presentation.

Teaching presentations in shallow water sources

When the applicant has finished asking You will discuss how to grade the presentation with the course director, which involves reviewing each section of the presentation.

Practice makes you better. The more you evaluate your teaching presentations in shallow water, the better. The more consistent your assessment performance and scores will be with the course director.

Once you are confident in your assessment skills You will have the opportunity to brief the candidate on their performance, providing positive support and suggestions for improvement.

Evaluating teaching presentations at sea

The final part of the assessment training for IDC Staff Instructors is the presentation at sea.

You will complete At-Sea Assessment Training as part of the IDC Staff Instructor Readiness Course and review the IDC Staff Instructor Teaching Workshop during IDC training.

As an IDC Staff Instructor candidate, you will help candidates prepare for their first presentation at sea and answer questions they may have when preparing future presentations.

Teaching presentations at sea

Guiding IDC candidates through IDC’s wide range of teaching offerings is an important role an IDC Staff Instructor plays.

You will be in the water during the teaching presentation at sea. And as you evaluate each presentation using both shallow and marine assessment slates,

Use the techniques you learned during assessment training. You will evaluate every aspect of each applicant’s sea presentation.

Evaluating IDC applicant presentations

When returning to the ship You will review your rating and compare it to the course director’s rating before rating the candidate’s briefing.
