Beautiful diving locations Some places can only be reached by boat. As scuba divers, we are all sure to dive from a boat at some point.
The philosophy of the PADI Boat Diver course is to focus on the comfort and convenience of diving from a boat.
The PADI Boat Diver Instructor course prepares you as an instructor to teach students the benefits of diving from a boat.
You will learn boat terminology, boat types, basic rules, boat diving safety equipment, procedures, etiquette and basic tips on boat safety.
The PADI Boat Diver Instructor Specialty course includes everything as follows:
- 1 dive training session
- Rent all diving equipment including special equipment.
- Free Dive Computer use
- Black Turtle Dive ‘s Promise to Customers (and the Environment)
To register for the PADI Boat Diver Instructor Special Course, you must:
- Be a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor or be currently enrolled or have completed an IDC/OWSI course within the past 12 months.
IDC/OWSI applicants may apply for Specialized Instructor certification only after successful completion of IE training.
- Recent diving experiences – We recommend that you Review of diving Completed if you have not dived for 12 months.
- Good health and no congenital diseases that would be an obstacle in learning to dive.
Upon successful completion of all requirements You must provide proof of 10 recorded dives.
The PADI Boat Diver Specialized Course lasts 1 day.
The course consists of two parts:
- knowledge development
- Open Water Training – 1 dive training session

09.00 – 11.30 hrs.: Orientation and knowledge development
12.30 – 17.00 hrs.: PADI Boat Diver training

knowledge development
The PADI Boat Diver Instructor Special Course includes 1 Open Water Training session.
There is also a knowledge development section that is usually done before we practice diving.
In the knowledge development section You must do the following:
- Presents knowledge development from the PADI Boat Diver specialty manual by teaching questions that were left out of the review.
- Review and understand the objectives and goals of the PADI Boat Diver Specialty Course.
- Review and explain the PADI Boat Diver course standards and procedures from the PADI Specialty Course Instructor Manual and list all learner and instructor equipment requirements.
- Demonstrate expertise in developing all knowledge
- Explains how to control all parts of the course in a way that allows the diver to meet the course requirements.
- Attend a marketing and promotion workshop where you will learn techniques for promoting your PADI Boat Diver Specialty Course to students and the diving community.
- Attend a pricing workshop
Diving training in open water on Koh Tao
There are 2 training dives on the course to become a PADI Boat Dive diver.
During the PADI Boat Diver Specialty Instructor course, you must complete all diving requirements. which must practice diving at least 1 time out of 1 time
Before diving, you must explain to the learner the considerations for training in the PADI Boat Diver specialty diver course in open water.
During diving training you must:
- Demonstrate proficiency in all aquatic skills requirements for the PADI Boat Diver specialty diver course.
- Offers open water diving instruction from the PADI Boat Diver specialty diver course.
- Demonstrates all requirements of a PADI Boat Diver specialty diver in Open Water.
Congratulations, you are now a PADI Boat Diver Specialist Instructor.

PADI Boat Diver specialist instructors have an application fee of AUD 131.
