How to start the PADI Freediver Course

As it is with all of our freediving courses, this course starts with a registration form and a medical questionnaire followed by theory including physics and physiology.

The theory session also introduces you to more advanced equalisation, relaxation and breathing techniques including Frenzel practice sessions.

Learning from the theory materials and demonstrating an understanding of the theoretical presentations is a very important part of learning to Freedive and you will get lots of time to ask questions and practice techniques.

Freediver Open Water Sessions

In the second confined water session, students will learn how to use long bladed freediving fins, swim underwater with them and continue to work on their rescue and safety skills.

There are two Open Water sessions on the PADI Freediver course and you will learn how to freedive using the free immersion and constant weight techniques.

Free immersion involves descending down a line by pulling on the line and the constant weight focuses on kicking of the fins.

Your freediving skill progression in the Open Water setting is gradual and you will start with shallow dives to 1 or 2 metres and increase your depth slowly after each successful attempt.
