To enroll on an PADI Equipment specialty course you must:
- Be an Open Water diver
- 10 years of age or older
1 Day PADI Equipment Specialty Course
The course consists of two sections:
- Knowledge Development – Instructor led knowledge development session and completion of the knowledge review
- Skill development – participate in a practical session on diver equipment such as BCD’s regulators, masks, fins and dive computers
At Black Turtle Dive we take our customer promise very seriously. All courses are conducted with a maximum of 4 students per PADI Dive Instructor.
Our Instructors are highly trained and will ensure you receive lots of attention and most importantly, progress at your own pace in a relaxed environment.
During your training we will slowly build your confidence and ability as you develop the skills necessary to become a PADI Equipment specialist.

Orientation & Knowledge Development
We start the PADI Equipment specialty course at 09.00 with an Orientation.
The PADI Equipment specialty course consists of an Equipment Specialty Instructor led knowledge development followed by a skill development session.
Some of the subjects you will cover during the Instructor led knowledge development include:
- Theory, principles and operation of diving equipment
- Routine recommended care and maintenance procedures and equipment storage
- Common problems with equipment and recommended professional maintenance procedures
- Demonstration of repair procedures for common problems
- Cylinder markings, visual inspections and when to do hydrostatic testing
- Simple suggestions for comfortable equipment configurations and an introduction to new equipment
PADI Equipment Specialist Touch
The PADI Equipment Specialist eLearning is a digital manual that participants on the PADI Equipment Specialist course receive as part of the course.
This great educational tool demonstrates how every part of the various pieces of scuba equipment fit together. It uses diagrams, photos and easy to understand explanations.
Within the eLearning there is a knowledge review that students need to complete.

The cost of the PADI Equipment Specialist Specialty course is THB 4,500. Included in this price are all course materials, instructor fees, and certification fees.
Food and accommodation are not included. However, you can contact us to find out about accommodation options. We have AC rooms available at discounted rates when taking a diving course with us.
Ex-students will enjoy a 10% discount on the course price.
Who can take the PADI Equipment Specialist Specialty course?
The Equipment Specialist course is available to any certified diver who has an interest in learning how to maintain diving equipment and understand better how it works.
The course will give you useful information and skills that you will most certainly use at least once in your future diving career.
Students need to be minimum 10 years old and need to be a certified (Junior) Scuba Diver or higher.
Do you get a certificate for the PADI Equipment Specialist course?
When completing the specialty course, you gain the Equipment Specialist Specialty certification.
This certification counts towards the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating, the highest certification and black belt in recreational diving.
Please note that this specialty course does not make you an authorized technician for any scuba diving brands.
You have to be a certified (Junior) Scuba Water diver and 10 years old to enroll in the specialty course.
